A red brick wall separates a tree in the foreground from a vine covered wall in the background. At the same time--because the leaves of the tree and the vines have the same bright color, and I used a long focal length lens to compress space--tree and wall blend with each other, while still maintaining some of their distinct individuality.

I was dealing with opposites central to photography, but also keenly felt by myself and everyone else on the planet: we want to be in the foreground, asserting our cherished individuality, while satisfying our desire to blend, or get along with other people and things.
