What they are close to is not just soothing; it has turbulence and a hint of storm, and they like being close to it.  Nearby, a tall, dark palm tree does some welcoming of its own as it rises gracefully to the sky. A message of this photograph is that love doesn't mean using another person as a refuge from the world.
